My guess would be one. I'd think that the queen landed on the lower branch and left some of her pheromone there, and then flew up to the upper branch and attracted the rest of the swarm.

My guess is the cluster fell, along with the queen, she's on the lower branch now, soon they'll all be where she is.
All this of course without seeing it and more details, one swarm.

Great imitation of a bunch of grapes. But yep one swarm.

Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try." So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin. If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it. (unknown)

This is a swarm I dealt with in April

The queen left the box, because I may have puffed too much smoke on her and this is what they did, it was pretty cool.

UP-DATE.....I had the swarm in two different hive bodies. I got the idea to set them next to each other thinking if it was one swarm then they would move in together. Well last night Zack and I combined the two boxes and there was a dead queen in the entrance this morning. I think there were either two queens or Zack and I might have rolled the queen in the combine.

Good luck in getting it straightened out and I hope you still have a queen in there somewhere. What do you plan to do now that you found the dead queen? I guess if there is a living queen in there you should see brood very soon, even if you can't find the queen. I am very poor at finding queens but if I can see young brood I'm usually satisfied. Anyway, great pic!
