Bee's bringing in pollen !!
« on: February 25, 2009, 08:48:21 pm »
I live near Danville,Va. and my bees are bringing in a pale yellow pollen and almost a gray pollen. I think it is from two different types of maples. That is the only thing that I've seen that has a bud, or bloom, on it. Any Ideas ? Sure is early but it looks like all seven hives are doing good.

Yellow is likely maple or crocus. Gray may be dried pollen from the fall asters.

Mine were bringing in the same color of pollen 3 weeks ago.  I believe its from some of the lower blooming weeds such as dandelion as well as red maples.

It's been pretty cool the past 2 weeks though!  Suppose to be much warmer over the next 3-4 days.
