My new Swarm trap in Warre hive dimensions (pictures)
« on: March 16, 2012, 07:40:19 pm »
Hello evryone.

I was looking all over the Internet to find out if there is a swarm trap anywhere that would be fitted with top bars from Warre hive and did not find it. Well, I decided to built one and I hope it will work. It has 16 bars across inside like 2 boxes would have. In this case the boxes are fused into 1 long box. I hope it will work and it will help all the beeks with Warre style hives.

If anyone want to know dimensions let me know.

Paul

This is exactly what I was looking for.  I only have Warre hives and have been wondering about the dimensions of a 40 litre-ish bait hive.  I'm looking forward to learning more.

This coming spring (2013) will be my first year.  I'm learning everything bees!!

Iam from Ukraine and in my country many ppls who catch swarms in forest and woodland belt.
So i think ur trap not really good. Why?
1. Free volume should be 50-60 liters
2. Under the framework should be 20-30 cm distance
3. Better to do a vertical form
4. No disguise, it will be seen on the tree
5. The expensive construction, will be a pity if stolen. (In Ukr it is rarely, but possible)
6. Round the entrance to the hive, hornets or wasps can outrun bees. Need to do a gap of less than 1 cm, the length is not important

If u have some questions. My skype pr1zZzz or ask here. Sorry for my eng...
