Dallas Fairmont
« on: May 22, 2013, 08:03:08 pm »
Anybody know who owns the hives on the terrace of the Dallas Fairmont? I stumbled up on then today while walking around. I thought they may belong to the chef but I can't find anyone who knows.
Good looking hives, plenty of bees bearding.

I found someone who told me that the Texas Beekeepers Guild owned these hives. I came back out here to watch then and found a swarm hanging in a tree.

Really cool.  I'm surprised the hotel was okay with a swarm on their premises.  I'd bet they aren't and will voice their concern to the beekeeper especially if customers complain.  I stayed there about 10+ years ago for a wedding and assuming it's still as nice they are going to be dealing with some well heeled customers who they really don't want to lose.

The manager came by last night and was tickled pink. He said he was a beekeeper at one time. He was going to contact the keep who looks after these hives.
Look like they need more room, there was bees bearding all the way around both boxes last night.
