First Swarm Catch in Four Years
« on: April 05, 2012, 09:35:17 am »
On Saturday I caught my first swarm. I have been on a swarm list for two years and have not gotten a call but this swarm came to me.

We did take some video but it is not edited. I can see why JP loves catching swarms. I had a blast.

I'm glad yo had a chance to catch one but for some reason I can't access the picture.

I had a customer the other day telling me about a swarm that had rested on a tree branch in his back yard for a few days. About the second or third day they dispersed and the air was full of buzzing bees as they were heading to their new location.

I told him if that were to ever happen again to stand there and enjoy it, a true marvel of nature. Man, he looked at me like I just got out of the loony bin!  :-D

Try it now I needed  to check settings. One of my other hives started to swarm and ended up going back into the hive but wow so fun to watch.

Glad you got a swarm, never gets old to me!!

Good use of an old sheet also.

Set you out a bait hive and you just might catch the swarm that is going to be coming from your other hive in the next day or so.
those hot bees will have you steppin and a fetchin like your heads on fire and your keister is a catchin!!!

Bees will be bees and do as they please!

I ended up splitting that one after I got back home from work. I do have two bait hives set out, just in case.

I have been on a swarm list for two years and have not gotten a call but this swarm came to me.
I put my name on every list I could think of last yr and never got the first call.  This yr I have received 3 swarm calls and 2 cutout calls.  And that was before April started.  Keep telling all your friends and family and they'll come.

Great catch on the swarm.  They're awesome.
