It seems (citing both D's and swamp's examples) that bear encounters are often in conjunction with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. I'll bet iddee sees lots of bears! :-D

Me, I only get aliens :'(

Scott
We had a guy here that saw "...a little spaceship with sixteen widdle wed wights going wound and wound..."...well, don't tell anybody but he's really Elvis. ;)

As for the theory that there is a connection between alcohol and bears...absolutely, ain't you ever listened to that controversial song "God's Own Drunk" song by Jimmy Buffet???

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".

Read through old posts long enough and you'll come across someone being "probed" by backing into a satellite dish. :-D

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Two words... bear sausage.  Try it if you have a chance.  I'm sure you would like it.  I've had some chance encounters with the furry critters in the past.  They are fun to watch.  If you think it's a nice view from the tree, you should try it on the ground level.  It's a much more "exciting" experience.

Me and my bro-in-law were in Skagway, AK for a few days... We... parked the car ...beside an incredibly blue ...river and walked up to the wooden ...bridge to ...toast [with] ...some ...Alabama rye whiskey...

That's a mighty fur peace to go just to get some cold branch water.  Why not just bottle up some of that great Coneuch County branch water and make ice cubes to chill your glasses?

That's too cool.  The way he(?) was just wandering along... and how quickly a soft word or two sent him shuffling away.

Elk bow hunting puts us up in bear country every year. I've come to know that soft "WOOF" - 'Bear for "oh crap, what's that". Wish I could share our latest pic of a fresh scat pile 16" x9"x9" - half as long as my son's bow.

 Thanks for sharing!
