I do not know any in Finland who use powered sugar. So I claim that is not neceassary.  We have mites and they are very well in control.

Here many calculate with mesh floor how much mites drow per week.

Hey Finsky

What do beek's use in Finland to keep mites under control.

It  "mite"  be interesting to try powdered sugar on just one of your hives to see if even better control might be possible.  It cant hurt anything. And, if you are like beek' in the USA ...we seem to be a very experimental bunch......we seem to like to think out of the box,  "box" pun intended.

If you do try it on jusy one of your hives, I would like to hear how many mites you find.

I have had mites 20 years and I have them enough. I am not interested calculate them. I give oxalic acid trickling when bees are in winterball.

One researcher made doctor research about powder sugar here in Finland  but  it is not used here.

Many use mesh floor and follow how much mites drop per week.

I have not used oxalic acid yet. I have seen it talked about alot on here. I understand how it is used as a vapor in the hive, but I have not seen the "how to" of an oxalic acid drip.......explain it please.

You you give trickling it is late autumn and bees are in tight winter ball. There is no sence to spray frame by frame. You just give syrup between framaes and it works.

After a while bees get nervous and syrup will spread all over the bee mas.

It is better follow official orders and not develope nothing own systems.
