evening foragers

the girls are at the daturas ( moonflowers ) again. the flowers leak their odor just before they open & they just can't resist. they stay well after sunset on them. around 10:00 the hummingbird moths show up. haven't caught them with the camera yet. in the 1st & the last shot you can see the load of pollen. click on the photo to enlarge.

No doubt GREAT PICS......but moon flower is NOT datura!! .....although I note that Datura - another night blooming species is also called that. The big moonflower that I am aware of and what appears to be the species pictured is one of the "Ipomoea" species.....related to morning glories.

these ARE daturas & ARE commonly called moonflowers since they only open at night. i know there is another moonflower but i'm not familiar with it. i believe those are related to morning glories.
