frame beetle traps that u put caster oil in: do they work?

I haven't used any to really say whether I like them or not.  I studied over traps for quiet a while and ended up going with what my mentor had recommended which are the plastic Beetlejail Jr.'s.  They're reusable and seem to be working good for me. http://beetlejail.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=63  They are cheaper at bee supply places.

I have tried them and they are a pain in the neck and do not work. They spill every time you handle them, not good for the bees. I use screen bottom boards and an oil tray under it. When the beetle numbers are up it kills thousands of them and also kills the larva that drop out to keep the next generations numbers down.

Oil trays work best for me also.

I do what Sawdustmaker does. I also find that the tray restricts beetle entry. because they can't come through the screen bottom.

I have some hives in just about total shade with oil traps on them. The hives that get at least 6 hours of sun don't need them.
