Kathy, the first part took about seven hours.

wow
-
Hope you charged big bucks for that one. Especially hazard pay with the sting between the eyes! :'(
-
Enjoyed it!
Looking forward to your next adventure!

Great! Thank you guys for this video.
-
Nothing but green for me.

Wow, that was a big hive! How was your survival rate using the bee vac on such a hot day for such a long job? I know I've heard you say in the past that you don't like to use the vac when it's really hot out.
-
Great video
Thanks
Dave

I love the fortune-cookie squinting! And the Chinese music at the end. And the scream at the time of the between-the-eyes sting. And everything else. :)

I am using pool vacuum hoses now thanks to Schawee. They are really fantastic, large interior and smooth. Also added regulators to my Walter Kelly's and survival rate is extremely high. I'd say less than a 1% loss, which is phenomenal for any bee vac.

nice one guys

Great video guys. Got one question though, what is it with you Cajuns and Chinese food? :-D
-
allen, its jp, everytime we got to go e at he wants chinese food.i think he dreams chinese :-D me i like lite meals when its hot.one of my favorite is a shrimp wrap, very healthy meal.try and get jp to eat something like that is a full time job. ...schawee

Good job guys. I would think the pounds would just melt off you two with all the heat and humidity down there, don't know how manage to keep up your girlish figures? :-D .
So, schawee did you trim the combs to keep them horizontal in the frames, like you taught me , or did you follow the slope of the roof line?
Husky guy regards. ....Don

For a coonass, got to say, Schawee is kind of a picky eater! :-D I brought him to Wholefoods for the grilled shrimp wrap. He wanted the chinese buffet but I talked him out of it. ;)
I told him we were gonna eat good, he insisted I tell him what we were eating, then I had to tell him what was in the wrap. Then he had to ask the cook what was in it as well!
Long story short, two days later we're talking on the phone and he says "when we going back for another shrimp wrap?" Said it was all he was thinkin' about! :-D

Another great lesson Video
Ouch on the between the eyes although it seems you didn't
look to Chinese eyed from it,but thats what might have given
you the craven (thinking you would look like Daniel Son's Mentor)

1% man that's good I have only done a few with vacuum
The vacuum really puts a hurt-en on the bees
I was looking at clear smooth hose at Ace Hardware
I guess I will go too the pool supply
I really try to limit the suction but in your videos,It seems you really are picking them up
and @1% loss  I barley get them picked up(low volume suction) and my loss is 50%
I was just saying I may not vac no longer with this type loss
Now back to the drawing boards
I also just built a Robo clone opposed to a box containment and see you use a containment Vac
Decisions,decisions
Thanks for the Video

Tommy, bees off comb are much easier to vacuum than bees on comb. Ones on comb seem to dig in for dear life!
I have all kinds of hoses, one, a smooth one I purchased from an industrial hose supply warehouse. Works ok, but very heavy!
Schawee, Hardwood and JP now only use pool vacuum hose.

Nice video! I saw JP and Schawee on there, but you never introduced the guy in the bee suit!! I'm not sure I've seen him before... :-D
I too have a Robo-vac and use a pool hose. I found that if I throw something soft in the bottom to break their rapid slide down the tube, something like pine needles or shredded paper, that it works much better, I very rarely see any dead bees in there.

JP thanks for the reply
I was going to say that too Scott and for whatever reason I posted on one of his removals and
didn't ,He helps me out a lot.
All you do but with him here in Fl he's my go too keeper when I have a Question. I am a bit shy

I have good luck with 2 1/2" smooth interior woodworkers dust collection hose attached to my robo bee vac. Took time to hand file down all the raised edges on all the conection fittings. I make sure to keep the hose as straight as possible and I try very hard not to get honey on the bees. I seldom see more than 10 - 20 dead bees after each job. Last Saturdays job which was an inside removal where I used the vacuum from the get go I didn't see but maybe 5 dead bees total.
Don

don ,didn't have to trim the comb to keep it horizontal.i placed the bottom of the comb on the botton of the frame.everything aok :-D ....schawee
-
If I had taken one between the eyes like you did, Schawee wouldnt have been the only one named Squinty.
-
I took one in the nose yesterday that was far worse than that one between the eyes! :-P
...JP
-
:lau: :lau: :lau:
-
You got a mustache, let your nose hair grow. :-D
-
Let's see:
> sweat band - check
> safety glassed - check
> cotton balls stuffed in the nose - ..... hmmmm, I don't think so.
Had to hurt a bunch. Hope the swelling wasn't too bad.
Mike
-
I've had bees in my nose before but my number one fear is a bee going deep into my ear canal and stinging me there. I've had several try to go there but I've managed to change their minds! :-D
Why do friends find it so hysterical when you get stung? It seems like they are wishing, perhaps even praying you will get stung for their amusement. With friends like that who needs enemies, right? :-D
Right Schawee? :-D
And don't think its not reciprocal buddy!
...JP
-
I think it was in a post from Bjorn one time that I read, "Go ahead and laugh at me when I get stung, because I am sure gonna laugh at you if you get stung". Thought is was pretty fitting.....and amusing.
-
Hey Mike (ultimate friend) how you doing buddy? :-D
...JP
-
Doing well JP. Been jonesing for some vids. You must have been real busy lately. Saw you and Liz on the reptile video. Hope all is well.
-
thats why i :lau: every chance i get when jp get his cause he do the same :-D schawee
-
Yeah, when I get a really painful sting, I'll yell out to Schawee, "Man that one hurts Schawee!" His typical response is well, "what you want me to do about it?"
No love at all folks!
And when that solitary bee out in the middle of the pond at Bud's stung me on the temple for no apparent reason, Schawee & Bud ganged up on me like there was no tomorrow!
They had a ball with that one folks. I can laugh about it now (sort of) but at the time the only ones laughing were my two buddies Bud & Schawee.
Of course if Schawee had taken that sting Bud & I would not have let Schawee hear the end of it! :-D
