Removal - Longmont Colorado
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:40:25 pm »

Did this removal last week, less than two miles from our house.
Open air hive under the eaves about 25 - 30 feet up.  They had been here less than a week...

Nice new white comb...

Home made bee vac set up...not very pretty but it works well...duct tape is my friend...

Left a little comb while I cleaned up a little and let the queen settle down...

I found her!  First time to find the queen doing a removal...but not on the comb I left, she was 8 inches away where the comb had been scraped off...

Box-O-Bees...

This hive is off to a great start.
Shalom!
John

Great pics.   Gotta love open hives.

Great job! Little suggestion for you, I would lay the catch box down flat to give the bees room to spread out. This would come in real handy on one you do with lots of numbers. Much less stress on the bees that way.
