From Nicaragua, Central America
« on: July 26, 2011, 07:24:32 pm »
New beekeeper.  Retired US Citizen living in Nicaragua.  We have a coffee farm where there are at least 20,000 coffee trees within a 2 mile radius.  Each coffee farm has many fruit trees (mango, citrus, guva, etc) as the best coffee is produced in shade.   I have cleared an area so my girls can have sun.   Honey is exported to Europe at $700 a barrel.

welcome.  you have managed to combine my two favorite things!  not in the same cup....  :-)

do you plan this as a hobby or money maker?  you don't sound very "retired"!
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

Thanks... Coffee and bees are a hobby that provide joy and money and something to do.  I am learning... like what happens if I put some hives with a friends pea nuts.

lol! I need my daily dose of coffee and seeing the honeybees at work in my gardeb  :-D

I get the shakes when I don't get my coffee caffeine or when I don't see the honeybees, and this is from someone who's crazy about the honeybees but has no hive, lol!

Cheers to your coffee plantation. I am a big shopper of Costco and they had this absolutely delicious Nicaraguan coffee blend....yummmmmmmm!
