they look good lee i just hived my first two hives saturday. i read that when they get 75% of the brood drawn out that you should put another hivebody on there. how many hives do you have? and what kind of foundation did you use?

Like Bobby said, when they get about 7 out of 10 of the frames done, add another box.

Looks like you started off well. It sure is nice to be able to start with so many hives - to compare to eachother, or steal brood from when needed.

check on them today, 3 of the 4 hives are doing real good. but one of them is not doing to good, they don't even have a full frame of comb build yet. looks like a lot of them left the hive and the other 3 hives has up to 6 frames each build it looks for them. :D

80% = 8 frames, lol, makes it easier than trying to guess if they have 75% done, :D

Lee, if those are all of the bees that are left in hive #1, you might as well combine them with another hive (newspaper method), they must not have a queen in there and will eventually die off completely - no point in delaying the inevitable.

Even if you were to give them a queen right now, I don't think there are even enough bees in there to make the hive a go of it.

Anyone else have other thoughts?
