Title: We will add another hive, yippie!
Post by: _Brenda_ on June 18, 2008, 06:05:39 pm
Last night hubby made the comment that we could add another hive over at the "farm". I guess he's ok with the bees in the backyard, since they've been docile and no problems yet.
I went over and mowed at the farm today. Lots over white dutch clover blooming, and lots of bees working it. I felt bad mowing it, but couldn't let that part get too high.
Now, I need to pick out a spot, and get another hive ordered.
I was wondering if I might luck out and place the hive and lure a swarm?
Sure were lots of bees out and about, and this is where we had a bee tree hive for over 10 years. They must still be somewhere in the area.
If that doesn't work, I may try splitting my hive next spring, if the over winter well, and build up well.
