Bobby Hebert calls out Les Miles
We still gotta remember, though, that Miles coached a 13-1 team that ended up #2 and held #1 basically the entire season. Miles is a darned good coach that you don't just find everyday (Saban's better, though! ;) ).
The LSU team as a unit and as individuals was, for some reason, off their game Monday night...the coach might have been, too, but the players definitely were. Jefferson who knows how to step back, drop his head, and run through the line was getting his head lifted and being sat back on his tail...or either just swamped in the backfield. I don't think Lee would have had a chance with the pass rush, but I understand the thoughts of "what if". The screens, options, and other lateral plays were just that...lateral, they couldn't add forward yardage to them. The panicky shuttle pass that was intercepted...very uncharacteristic of Jefferson. Even Mathieu got shut down...both on defense and kick returns. It wasn't just a quarterback thing or a coach thing...it really seemed to me to be a team thing.
I think all the nay-sayers and folks saying Alabama shouldn't be playing in the championship game helped to build a blazing fire under Alabama that LSU didn't have...personally I'd like to thank all those folks!!! Oh, and if the BCS changes things to that little 4-team playoff thingy that they're talking about don't be too surprised if you see three, or even four, SEC teams playing in it. :-D
LSU is a fine team, looking at what's coming back to them next year...it's gonna be a team to contend with once again, that is for sure. But, for now I'll say with a smile....
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
