This year will be my first year playing with bees.

Umm, besides my aspirations to be a beekeeper, I make chainmaille armor and jewelry, go to college, and go to work.  I am about 30 minutes south of the twin cities in minnesota so if anyone is in the area I wouldn't mind "apprenticing" to try and learn some things........

Welcome to beekeeping Chris. You have some interesting hobbies.  I'm on the east coast myself, but I"m sure you'll be able to find someone in your area to get you started.
