Title: I'm lost, the chicken with the blue legs
Post by: Cindi on December 30, 2007, 11:01:11 am: I have looked at every chicken breed known to man (hee, hee), and I cannot find out what breed (or cross) this chicken is. The closest I could get would be some kind of Dutch breed. Am I missing something here? Does anyone have any of these blue legged chickens? She is the friendly and hungriest of the clan. I don't even see the comb, is it flat on her head or does it stick up? I assume she has the normal number of toes? (some don't).

Post by: Cindi on December 30, 2007, 01:20:08 pm: Michael, the mystery deepens. Toes, it was just yesterday that I actually realized that chickens can have 4 or 5 toes, I was shocked!!! I have been doing alot of study on chickens, and this mystery deepens as well, hee, hee. I will have to go and have a close look at this girl, she has at least 4 toes I would imagine ;) :)

She is a cute little, probably mutt. Always the first one to come out and I almost always step on her toes cause she is such a pig, I should have noticed how many she has.

Her comb, well, it looks to me like has barely even has one. Her face is really light coloured too. I will take off with camera in hand later on and see if I can get a close up of her face. That should be an easy task. Nope, no feathers on her legs, no beard. Just a plain white little greedy chicken.

Today we are amalgamating the chicken yards. I will be spending lots of time out there to ensure there are no chicken fights. We have kept these two chickenyards separated, but it is time to get them all together now. That reminds me of a song.

Next weekend we are getting some new stock from a man who lives some distance away, his travel to the place where we will meet is about 2 hours, it is about 1 hour for me. We shall meet in the near-middle. He comes to the city every couple of weeks and is bringing along some of his stock that I would like to have, he is going to be travelling and needs to downsize. theres an example of blue legged chicken. i think there's several varieties that have blue legs.

I am not even sure if it is a hen, it could be a rooster, no clue. But I will call her a hen, she looks like she should be a hen and she really has not much of a comb at all, barely can see it, you will see how small it is in the picture.
