Title: New Utah Beekeeper
Post by: bxmas13 on May 17, 2008, 04:35:19 pm
Hi all!  I am very late in introducing myself.  Doh!  I am a greenhorn beekeeper in American Fork, Ut.  So far it's been a great experience.  Especially since I had a difficult time getting over the fear of getting stung.  But I finally made it after 4 weeks!

Bad news though; I just checked my first, and only, hive today and found I only have capped drone cells.  :(  But I will be back at it next year, or if I can, salvage my hive this year.

You have a drone laying queen or you have laying workers.

Tell the supplier.  They may provide you with a better queen.

bxmas13.  I wouldn't give up and wait til next year.  Do as Michael says, tell the supplier and get a new queen.  You did a lot of work to get over a fear of being stung, and you are enjoying the bees.  You probably feel let down, but pick yourself back up, get a new queen, and carry on with getting to know the bees, you deserve that, you have worked hard.  Do that thing, you will be pleased with yourself and take the time and give yourself a pat on the back.  Now....have a beautiful and wonderful day, Cindi
