I had a new experience Saturday;

I started to pull some honey, and for the first time I tried
Bee Quick. I was very impressed with it. Fast removal of the
bees and no residual odor in the honey.

IMO it is kinda pricey but so is gasoline.

I have only used it one day, but I would recommend it to anyone
based on my short time results.

I like Bee quick and it smells nice too. Be sure the fume board is warm so the fumes will travel down into the supers.

I read this post and felt I had to reply. Are you getting payola from fischers? My bees responded to bee quick the same way they responded to my hand written note "Please be gone by Friday as I will be taking the honey then." I had to resort to brushing them off. Honey robber for me next year.

What is the advantage to using chemicals to drive bees out? Does it get them all? I used a regular bee escape. After 24 hours, 1 bee remained in one hive, 0 in the other.

I have used this and it works pretty well. Smells like sweet Almonds....
And I have to only use one quirt of this stuff...It seems to last a long time...

Followed by a brush (or better yet a goose feather).

But the results will vary with any method depending on the weather, etc.

The Beequick (or any other chemical method) will not vaporize well if it's too cool. If you go to the Beequick web site they will explain how best to get it into the hive for results.

The escape also depends on the weather and on any brood in the supers. Any brood at all and they will never leave. Cool nights and they will leave quickly. Hot nights take them longer. I still end up brushing some bees off.

I don't see how anyone can stand the smell of Honey Robber or Bee Go.

Maybe. But I also hate the smell of vomit. :) Even if it's cherry scented vomit.
