I always wanted to raise bees since I was about 5 years old ,about 10 I broke out in hives after ahoneybee stung me and a doctor said I was allergic to honey bees so I didn't think I would ever be able to be a beekeeper, whenever some one would see I showed an interest in bees they would ask if I was a beekeeper , and my response was " No but I would like to be." After several years I decided I wanted to try it so I got an allergy test done , that showed  I had a reaction to honeybee venom, Doctor said not to raise bees , I did any way, I'm nomally not much of a risk taker but this is something I've always wanted to do, so far in two years I've been stung twice with very little reaction.

Gotta break out the aluminum foil hats again!

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Well Phil C its just my name, although on a few of the Jeep and racing forums I am known as NUFDUM it came from racing Mud Drags and Bogs for about 18 years. It was the name of my Jeep in all of its various incarnations.
Cheers!

My name was a gift from my kids. My name is Stan, and everyone calls me "Stan The Man". That would not work for a handle, so the kids suggested I shorten it and write is the way we southerners tend to say it. Would have been more clear if I had spelled it stan-duh-man. Probably a more accurate reflection of how much I know about bees too. :)

Speaking of "Wits End"! It is the name of our Blueberry and Bee farm we call home. It's at the end of a dead end gravel road 17 miles from town and when we get home in the evenings we are usually at our "Wits End".

Dixie Books was the name of a bookstore I owned. That was the time when I started getting online and I've used it as my online name ever since. I've been trying to come up with a name for the bee "biz" but Dixie Bees is pretty much out (don't want to step on Don's toes - never step on a FatBeeMan's toes, I say - "Dixie Bees" is likely too close to "Dixe Bee Supply" for comfort). I'm still taking nominations for a new moniker. BTW, I am in Upper-East Tennessee (in the tri-cities) and also in central Alabama (in Shelby County). I currently spend about a week and a half to two weeks per month in TN and the remainder in Alabama. -James Wagner

I'm a total noob, but I heard at my beekeeping class that beekeepers were often called "Beeks"

So, I tried the name, "Beek"

I'm surprised it was available.

Beek  ;)
