Do swarms you catch that originated from your own hives count?

They do to me. No matter were they came from it's still another hive that I didn't have.
Others might differ.

I agree! They count in my book. I hang a swarm trap or two near all my yards.

I have some small and some little bigger trees about 30 ft in front of my hives. Some of the swarms I have caught I know came from my yard. Have heard that a bee yard can also attract a swarm, not sure on that one, but most of the swarm I have caught were in or close to those trees. And yes I count all swarms caught.

A bee yard I'll draw in ferrel swarms very well. I have alot from the surrounding ares come to my yards. Seen many on the way in. It's pretty cool to see

Absolutely! A swarm is a swarm. Some of the best swarms I've caught have been from my yards. I like those. Don't have to isolate them for observation.

Last year I started a new yard of 20 colonies with 3 frame splits and new queens. Within a week I caught 2 swarms hanging on a low bush in the middle of that yard. Bee yard are attactors

I'm new to this, but look at it this way: The moment that swarm leaves your hive, they're no longer "your" bees." If you don't catch them, they're gone...so, i would guess a swarm is a swarm, they all count. :)

Question: Does everyone have a separate yard that they (quarantine) isolate new swarms caught that are known to not be from there original stock? It makes sense to me just not sure if it common practice.

Reasons I don't think swarms that I catch in my own yards should count.
3. Like catching Trout with colored marshmallows.
2. No vanilla shakes to be had if I don't get out of my own driveway.
1. And mostly it means I have to listen to a bunch of cajuns bragging about catching swarms while we still have snow on the ground. :evil: :cheer:

Some of us do. Some don't. State inspection yearly here.

when you quarenteen, how far is your quareenteen yard. bees travel over 3mi. kinda hard to do. get a map and draw a straight line .
also most people I know and that is quite a few, don't know what they are seing when it is there
baily I am kinda funny like that 2, one thing to be a friend and call someone something and the person you never saw befor . like me being called a fat redneck is a compliment from my friends

I use the bee yard here at the house as an isolation point for swarms caught away from here.
Once they are established I move them to bee yard #2
Now if I catch a swarm rat here in the yard I usually move it to bee yard #2 so the bees will stay put in the hive.
Bee yard #2 is 3 miles away on 500 acres of red and white clover.
Bee yard #3 is within 2 miles of #2 and is another 450 acres of red and white clover.
I keep most of my Nucs in bee yard #3.
The weather is moderating here now, 60's-70's in the daytime and 40's at night.
I'm going to start grafting Thursday.
