Title: Great Bee Resourses
Post by: Humanbeeing on February 27, 2011, 05:19:19 pm
This site,
http://www.pdf-searcher.com/ (http://www.pdf-searcher.com/)
allows you to search most PDF files out there. There is a lot on beekeeping and queen rearing. Just type Queen Rearing in the search box and Viola, everything out there in PDF comes up.

Here is a couple of articles I have looked for, for awhile:

Here is one I find very interesting:

Thanks, what a wonderful way to find the gold nuggets out there.

That site is a keeper.

Now can you teach me how to read faster.

Short of somehow plugging my computer directly into my forehead, I can't get it in any faster, and I'm a bit slow to start with, so I'll just keep plugging along.
Title: Great explanation of Cloake board
Post by: BrentX on March 13, 2011, 08:34:55 pm
This is an easy to understand explanation of the Cloake board method.  Makes good sense.

In considering the method  I was wondering though if instead of introducing grafts, the beekeeeper instead let the bees select queen cells, what would be the down side.

The procedure would be

Place cloak board and reverse bottom queen right hive.

A couple days later move am frame of brood and eggs up and close the cloake board.

Five days later, inspect for queen cells.  Open the cloake board if Q cells are present.

About 10 days after moving the brood and eggs, moventhe queen cells to MUDs and let the Qs hatch.

Am I missing something fundamental here?  This seems much less invasive, by skipping the grafting step.
