Here is another thought...

What about the person that took the picture?

I believe that there are people out there that work the system.   He may need the free meal, I can not judge him on that.  He may not be able to buy food after paying for his phone contract.  Who knows.  But there are people out there, in line for the free lunch, with more cash in their pockets than most here online have in their checking accounts.  But we can not close the system down because of a few bad apples, can we?

Maybe not, but we could sure make it a lot more restrictive.

Much like gun controll.... "then only criminals will have gun"..... make it highly restrictive, then the only people receiving benefits will be the career system leaches.... I personally have known "people" (and I use that term loosely) that could not tell you who the vice president or their Governor was.. but he and every person in that particular group knew verbatim every loophole and scam to bilk the system (our government) for every dime available. The down side is the heart wrenching stories that you see showcased in the news of hard working people who are truly in dire need of the help and can't get it in a timely manor. Making me think maybe its already too restrictive. That's not entirely accurate... making me think that too many voters demand more restrictions to which the bureaucratic elected officials install ineffective regulations in the only lauguage they know how to use (long winded beauractratic type and ineffective) and claim they have their constituents best interests at heart while the people truly in need are bogged down with bureaucratic paperwork and the schemers who have all the time in the world to perfect their roll thrive on the system. :soapbox:   OK  I am all better now.

Thanks, Bee farmer. I guess it would be better to just ask each person on his 16th birthday if he would like to get a nice check weekly, a new car every 2 years, and a nice home with a contractor assigned to keep it maintained, or would he rather get out and work scraping whatever he could to make a living. He makes his choice then and it lasts a lifetime. Great idea you have there.

As long as there are "Hand out" programs, there will be people using them.

What if we still had a society where if one didn't work he would probably have a very short life span. What if it was a society where people still depended on family to get them through the rough times. Perhaps we would still have strong family ties  :idunno:

As I posted in another thread some where, we had a reporter do a little research into the pan handlers around here. He figured there was a possibility of making an easy $200,000 a year. Then these people go to the free shelters to sleep and the soup kitchens to eat. And probably never reports their earnings to the IRS.

I think it would be cheaper to give everyone a million dollars and say "That is all you get - forever."

I see it now.   90% of the country will be broke in 2 years.   The dollar will be worthless.   And china will end up with everyone of the dollars some how.  But I do like the forever part.

I got two sister's that I don't talk to any more! They got the system down big time and the sad part is their kid's are the same way. My one sister is about 400 pounds and the other 350. They got fat and their body's broke down now all they do is sit back and say FEED ME. Got tired of the problem's they caused me #1 ID fraud 6.000 #2 I can't go any where they have been because soon as they hear my last name they think I'm there to rip them off the hell I had to go through just to get my high speed internet was unreal. I had to pay an attorney to help me clear my name. Now here is what angry me off the most the same state that is supposed to put people like that away slap's their hand's and pays them around 600 to 700 bucks a month cash and about 250 in food stamps and they got medical. I could go on and on but It don't do any good. Got to go to work have to be there by 2:30 this after noon.

that's why i am in favor of either a flat tax that EVERYONE pays, or a fair tax with no exemptions except maybe food.  people who pay nothing have no interest in how money is spent or even where it comes from.....as long as it comes.  they have no investment in society so they vote for people who give them stuff and don't care about anything else. they also are the people who use the most services while contributing nothing.

you tend to pay attention when someone is taking your money and wasting it, even if it's only a couple of bucks.
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

I see it now.   90% of the country will be broke in 2 years.   The dollar will be worthless.   And china will end up with everyone of the dollars some how.  But I do like the forever part.

Actually  I took that from an email that made a pile of sense. I'm going on memory so some of my details are a little rough - but here it is. The letter said: INSTEAD of bailing out "Too irresponsible to succeedBig to fail" organizations, give every "Boomer" ? million dollars (I think it was two, but that's a sketchy detail. With the following stipulations: 1. You're retired as soon as you sign for the money  2 Sell your home and buy a new one. 3 buy a brand new AMERICAN car. no boomer is obligated to accept the terms, they can also get no money.  But the letter discussed the number of boomers and that for the x#million each it was still way cheaper than the bailouts, then it added that the sudden retirement of that many boomers plus demand for new cars = huge drop in unemployment. also home sales.
I know there would be "scammers" people who find a way to collect 2 or 3 times. (catch and charge as many of those as possible of course) but I think I'd rather have  someone scam 10 million. instead of some dude showing up in a learjet to collect a billion in welfare.
be happy and make others happy.
