Drones are a part of a healthy hive until fall. The bees will drag them out in the fall. They (the workers) know what they need.

If they are in the way, cut them out.   If you are using a green frame for  mite control, freeze it and the bees will clean it up.  The bees know how many drones they need.

I don't use the green drone frames, but occasionally I will come across a frame that has a big spot/section of mostly capped drone cells and i will pull that out and freeze it for mite control.  Frequently that is buy itself in one of the top boxes/honey supers as I do not use a queen excluder.

But on the whole I believe in letting the girls make the amount of drone they think they need.  They understand that better than I do.

But you might watch cause if a mated queen is producing way too much drone she could be getting old or poorly mated and in need of replacement (though, again, I usually allow the girls to know when the queen needs to be superceded.)
