Was trying to take a day off but kept getting a bunch of calls, two were swarm calls, others were established colonies that will have to wait.
I took one swarm call, as the people and the police were very persistant I go and remove them as there were many kids around, so I did this one.
Boy, it was a big one!
I had a deep with me and a couple of cardboard boxes. The swarm was so big they all couldn't fit in the deep so I used the deep and a box.

I was glad I went by, I couldn't imagine these people getting impatient and doing something foolish, and kids were next door across the street, etc...
Plus, I had a little gathering across the street and they were well entertained, I could hear the small chidren, each time I'd do something.
Was something like this, "Mommy, he's shaking the tree again, but they're going right back, but not as much."
"Mommy, that's a lot of bees!"
"Is he gonna get all those bees today?"
"Why do they keep going back to the tree?
Once I got the bees situated, I went over and brought my camera and showed them pictures of queens and other swarms, etc... and fielded a bunch of questions, like, "Why do they go back to the branch after you shake them?"
"Are you gonna get all those bees today?"
"Why do they go back to the branch after you shake them?"
:) :-D :-D

Cindi, they all couldn't fit so I put some in a cardboard box also. I wish I had brought a deep and a medium along as I didn't expect a swarm so big, oh well, I better be ready next time. At least I had some cardboard boxes though.

Hi JP that was a big swarm. I would like to see that here in NJ.

JP,
With a swarm that large, how did you get them into all the different boxes?
I understand them wanting to go into the box with the queen, but how did you get them to go into the boxes that didn't have the queen?
Thanks, Ray
