Ideas to save bees?
« on: November 23, 2011, 08:25:54 pm »
Talked to an apratment manager tonight.  They opened up a wall yesterday to do some repairs and found a bee colony.  Any chance of removing this and saving bees with winter just around the corner?  I do have an unheated garage that I could put them in.

If they can wait, I would put it off until spring.   You could combine with another hive now if needed.

Bees have been there most of the summer.  They were waiting for the tenant to move out to open the wall.  Want to get it cleaned out and put back together to re-rent.  I was thinking trying a 5 frame nuc in the garage or stacking on top of a double screen over a strong hive.
