Title: mason bee nesting/mating box.
Post by: BjornBee on March 26, 2010, 11:00:25 pm
Here is a box I placed yesterday. It is a 3 frame nuc box. It holds 370 mason tubes, with 32 filled starter tubes. It should have in excess of 150 tubes after the season.

Here is to a great season.... :-D

A great picture to go with that is the "end of season" picture.

Do you ever have wasps take up and build a nest in the dry in those boxes?

Dave,
I have that planned. Only 18 tubes filled new so far in this box. Seems they were active and then they faded as of late, at this particular site. Too hot too soon. But I still have some horned faced masons still hatching out. Most of the tubes have been filled by the blue orchard.

Yes. In fact, I took one down just a couple days ago in another box. Just a single wasp with about four comb cells.
