Paint Recommendations

Just wondering what type of paint or sealant you use on the outside of your hives. (Oil? Acrylic? etc.) And if there is anything i should look out for, and if you use anything inside of the hives (I would think not, but you never know)

Thanks guys

I dont use anything inside a hive, I use 1 coat of kiltz (like a primer) and 2 coats latex on the out side, those 3 coats hold up nice
THAT's ME TO THE LEFT JUST 5 MONTHS FROM NOW!!!!!!!!

It is idea to clean boxes inside with flame. So it is not wise to use stuff.

Outdoor latex is good to outer walls. Layer should be thin that moisture comes out from wood.

Agreed on all points.

No paint inside, latex outside.

I am a painting contactor and like to use laytex because it lets the wood breath and it is less likely to peel.  If primeing use a laytex primer also.

I'm not sure if it's given the climate down here is more brutal given termites, wet conditions, hot conditions and such, but I prefer to soak the wood for the boxes in a copper based preservative (Copper-tox).  Apply a coat of indoor/outdoor latex primer on the outside and over that apply a layer of exterior semi-gloss( given I have a gallon just laying around from that last home improvement project; same deal with the primer).  The boxes seem to hold up very well with this treatment.
