Title: Melissa and her neighbors swarm 4-17-11
Post by: G3farms on April 24, 2011, 10:50:11 am
Swarm call not too far from the house this time. Melissa called and said she had a swarm down low in a bush and they needed to get gone before the neighbor sprayed them. They were in a small tree on the fence between the houses. Melissa's brother (I think) saw my add on craigs list so she gave me a ring, her sister was afraid I would turn out to be the craigs list killer  .

Nice, easy swarm.  I think I'll put an ad on Craig's list, couldn't hurt.

Melissa was the lady that called about the swarm. She lived on one side of the fence and her neighbor, a Japanese family that was from Chicago, wanted the bees gone N O W. The neighbor has two small children and was afraid they would get stung. They were amazed when I just walked up to the swarm and started trimming branches back and stuck my bare hand into the bees. Melissa was not afraid after that and got to do a little explaining of what was going on, showed her drones and got her to hold one, she even clipped off the branch while I was holding the swarm. Her sister kept calling wanting to know if she was alright, afraid I might turn out to be a craigs list killer

I missed a swarm that I was called about yesterday. By the time I got there it was gone. (Later found it had taken up residence in a concrete wall using a hole that the electric lines feed into the building)

It may just be me, there seems to be more swarms than last year and earlier too for this area.

Love to capture those easy swarms! Cut a branch and you're done.  :-D
