This weekend I aquired a truck load of old bee keeping supplies. There was a box of these. Can anyone tell what they are and what they are used for?

I am not sure how to use this model unless it goes on the out side of the hive. Buzzbee said he has seen them before and might know how to use them. My pollen trap goes on the bottom of the brood box and has a screen that slides out on the side.

by looking at it seems the small wood pieces would slide into the entrance of the hive and looks like you would have to pull it every day because it has no cover
