Balling Queen
« on: July 22, 2008, 11:38:15 pm »
Caught a swarm last Monday and placed in hive on duragilt foundation.  Wentin today and they have most of 5 frames drawn already with honey and saw lots of eggs.  Last frame I pulled had the queen.

As I was checking her out several bees seemed to be balling her.  One had her by a wing and would not let her go while 3 or 4 more was just crawling around on and over her.

I am up to 12 hive and check them weekly and have never seen bees treat their own queen this way.

Any ideas?

Johnny

Yep, I agree with JP, she is on her way out.
