SHB trap & Boric Acid?
« on: August 27, 2009, 11:19:52 pm »
I've made some of the homemade SHB traps with corrugated plastic with crisco holding the boric acid in. Then it dawned on me. Will the boric acid that has spilled/stuck to the outside of the trap harm the bees?

I've seen boric acid in the drug stores. If you don't see it, ask about it at the pharmacy counter.

I see not many answers to above. I wondered about the same when I was watching the video.

As far finding it: It's Roach killer in Lowes --- I believe Roach Proof. Look at ingredients.

I can't remember the brand name but they also sell it at Walmart and most grocery stores. Look in the pesticide section, for roach powder.

I think it might be wise to make sure none of the boric acid spills out into the hive. I can't say for sure, but I suspect it would be bad for bees as well as ants and roaches.
