I am a first year (two weeks so far) beekeeper with one hive and another on the way.

Welcome!  The first year beekeeping is probably the most exciting.  You have come to the right place for advice and answers to your questions.  The experts here are wonderful (and as in my case, very patient!).

Welcome bakerboy!

It's great to have another local on the board.   I live up by the Ashokan Reservoir.  You live in a good area for bees with all the orchards around you.  I did a trap out in a brick building on Main Street in Red Hook last year.   Feel free to PM me if you need some help or advice.

Bakerboy, welcome to our forum.  This will be the place where you spend time, lots of stuff to learn, as you know, and there is always more to learn.  I can almost taste the products that you bake, I bet one of them is bread, hee, hee.  Nothing nicer than fresh baked bread.  Ooops, yep, breakfast soon, but only day old bread, rats.

Enjoy your time with the bees, aren't they just the best?  When you have some spare time, tell us some of your favourite experiences with your bees, we love to hear stories and experiences, we all have a tale or two to tell.  Most beautiful day in this great life.  Cindi

 Hey Cindi!
I'll have you know that I was the first male in the history of Burkburnett High School that took Home Ec. I was the only guy in a class with 15 girls!....But, I think my teacher, Ms. Duke, had a thing for me.
I was actually tricked by a counselor the day of picking classes. She told me "All the boys are signing up for home ec this semester....And I fell for it!...The next semester though, Home Ec. was full of guys!...They were all my friends signing up after seeing me come out of this class with baked foods and a mess of girls!!
I bake cakes still, but I do the ones that come out of a box!..Bundt cakes!! I have a pan that looks like a rose too! Sometimes they look so nice that nobody will eat them for a week! :)
Your friend,
john
