Thanks, ya'll.

The set up closest to us looks like three eight framers atop a ten framer. Is that correct or am I seeing things?

Man, sometimes i really miss Alabama. Great picture. Thanks

JP, your eyes are ok...that's a 10-frame deep under those 8-frame mediums. When I bought the colony it came in the 10-frame deep. My goal is to end up with all 8-frame mediums...still gotta figure out how to do this. :) I'm hoping that come spring the bees will have moved up and out of the lower box. Otherwise I'll find the queen and move her up in an 8-frame box and put an excluder beneath her and let the brood below finish out. Newbee mind is kinda stretched thin on this one. I hope Schawee is still improving!
Hemlock....only "sometimes"? <grin> Glad you liked the picture.

Nice work and Gold’s north of $1600 an ounce again.
It’s always a hope the bees will move off comb the bee keeper wants to replace, but I think there is an axiom that the bees will do just the opposite of what the bee keeper wants them to do. Last winter my bees mostly stayed in the bottom box (and I’m in Michigan). We did have a mild winter though.

Thanks, BlueBee.
Yeah, I'm probably going to have to put the queen in an upper box and an excluder between her and the bottom box. I want to get rid of that 10-frame deep so I can get my modified bottom boards and oil trays under it. This has been my strong hive so apparently *they* are doing something right...(I'm not gonna say anything about this beek's abilities!)

Glad you liked it, Lazy. It was a nice afternoon that day and even managed to get the grass cut. ;) Well, maybe not between the hives, but....
