Supers for TBH's?
« on: February 07, 2011, 04:25:51 pm »
Has anybody used a super or has experimented with different designs
for using a super on a TBH?  I would be interested to hear the results.

It kind of defeats the purpose of a horizontal hive but it can be done.  The problem with a top bar hive is also that without gaps between the frames you have less communication and more trouble getting them to view the super as part of the hive.  I force them through it as that's the only entrance.

Most traditional TBHs are not built to be supered.

But there are various other designs that can accommodate supers. As MB stated, long or trench hives, which can also be TBHs are easily supered.

here is some information....
