Greetings from Western NY
« on: February 08, 2013, 09:54:58 am »
Just introducing myself I am planning on getting started with Beekeeeping this spring.  My primary reason is to get some bees to work my fruit trees and gardens as the past few years I have not seen many honey bees in my area and the crops harvests have been very poor.  Hoping to start two hives this spring.  I plan on going to a bee keeping introduction class next month and in the mean time I will be researching on line and looking for a local experienced keeper to help me along the way.  I have really enjoyed reading some of the content on the boards here and look forward to learning more.

Welcome to the forum, lots of good folks and information here, enjoy your stay.

Have you ordered bees yet?  Not sure about your area but I'm thinking if you want to start this spring you need to see about getting an order in sooner rather than later.

Good luck!  :)

Glad you found us!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I am following up on a couple leads on some local nucs hoping they pan out as I would prefer to start with bees that are used to our lovely winters that we have hear in WNY. I definately need to find some soon as from what I hear they go pretty quickly.

Thanks for all the welcomes!!
