Title: The Tragedy of a Beautiful Blue Banded Bee
Post by: Bees-in-Art on September 13, 2009, 06:27:27 pm
This a Blue Banded Bee photographed in a garden in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Sadly, moments later she was stalked, captured and eaten by a mantis.

I think it's common. I believe that this species is being used or considered for use as a greenhouse pollinator in Australia. Amazing iridescent blue bands aren't they?
