Swarm Trap & Two Removals---April 17, 2010
« on: April 18, 2010, 08:46:56 am »
Folks its been just crazier than crazy, bee crazy! I go on a call and get back in my truck and have seven new calls! Everyone has bees and wants them removed now!  ;)

The first pics are of a swarm trap I set up Friday evening. Many, many scouts checking this bldg out, many getting in, people inside freaking out! The pics are of yesterday morning around 10AM. Thought for sure the swarm would show up yesterday, perhaps today.

2nd pics are of a strange little colony that built over a boxed in area over a window. They had swarmed already and you can see pics of the new queen. I first thought they were in the wall, then maybe the outer wall between it and the blackboard, then perhaps the soffit area, no, no & no!

3rd is a rather new colony with a kick butt queen, laying a tremendous pattern.

Pity i aint around to render some assistance in return for some experience JP.Gr8 pics as usual...
Did a cut out yesterday and was rewarded with approx. 50lbs honey-hive was preparing to swarm;found 2 queen cells on lower end of combs with young larvae so i'm trying to get 2 hive form this....Put the queen in one box and cells in another and shared brood-brought home queenright hive and left other next to location of cut-out.It's abt a mile from home and i'm thinking i'll leave it there for abt a week or 2 with the hope that when new Queen emerges all should be well once more..[/i]
I've chosen understanding over knowledge-since knowledge is all about knowing where to find facts and understanding is knowing how to manipulate knowledge...I've also chosen knowledge over beliefs!! We all need to..

I haven't received even 1 call yet and I am on 2 swarm lists. There are hardly any bees around these parts.

It sounds so maddening around where you live.

Annette, hopefully when you come down, perhaps we have the time to attend to a swarm call.

Today, I turned down two. Gave one call to a friend. Other one said she will call me if still there tomorrow.

I think she should  provide you with an umbrella of your own, perhaps something in a shade of blue....

No, no, another umbrella of any other color would just be a distraction. The red umbrella is her trademark!

Besides if we had to, I could just slip under hers & then I could always and forever say I had the opportunity to share Annette's red umbrella!   ;)

JP, I assume that bee removal is your career? What do you do with all the hives and swarms you obtain? :)
