is this a good idea?
« on: June 05, 2009, 07:14:17 pm »
I believe one of my hives is starting a queen cell. With this being one of the only two hives in my area (both about a week old) should there bee enough drones to mate w/ her? or should i destroy the cell(i dont want to unless i have to.
i am going to check the hive later tonight to determine what they are doing.

I have never seen a good reason to destroy a good queen cell. It is a myth that should be allowed to die. The only queen cell I will ever destroy is when I accidentally damage it.

Is this on the package hive you were having trouble with awhile back?
To bee or not to bee that is the question I wake up to answer that every morning...

no but that one died out again
i dont believe the queen was laying as there is 4-5 queen cells in that hive now and the population is dropping again :'( :'(
i dont know what is up with that hive but the bees seem to have trouble w/ it.

the queen cell i was asking about is on the healthy hive.
