Title: Probiotic Sugar Syrup
Post by: Farm 779 on June 28, 2013, 05:56:50 pm
Could I please get some links to research / web sites talking about probiotics in sugar syrup. I am experimenting with adding EM-1, a serum used in making Bokashi, to my sugar syrup. I have a drone hive that I added the syrup to.

TIA,

I do not know of a site, but I did hear of a Beek in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that reported positive results by spraying his bees with his Bokashi probiotic drink, no sugar, just light spray of bees on frames several times.

Good luck in your research.

I am trying to help the bee's digestive health and natural occurring bacteria. Also hoping to aid in wintering and combat nosema during the winter lay up.

By introducing large numbers of CFU's of bacteria that otherwise don't live in bees or a bee hive?  How does that "help" the "naturally occuring bacteria"?

The bees need to have a wide selection of flowers to select from. They know which ones are right for them.

Pure nonsense. You can only spoil the colonies with your tricks.
They get drinking water even from manure container walls.

Try to do something usefull that you get big yields.

Pollen stores for winter are important. Honey has only energy, other nutritients come from pollen.
