Hello from the Washington Coast
« on: March 11, 2008, 11:57:20 pm »
Greetings!

I am a new beekeeper.  I started with one Dadants kit #1 last year and it looks like my bees made it through the winter.  It is still a bit cold, wet, and windy, so they aren't doing much, but I am seeing a lot more activity during the few sunny days.  I'm expanding that hive and adding two more this year, so I'm sure I will have plenty of questions.

Bill

Welcome Bill
I too am from WA. foothills of cascades. There is a member in Anacortes if you are that far N. New, no bees yet but they are on the way. There are 2 other members within a few miles of here.  This forum is great,I've learned so much.  Ask any questions, between all of the members there will be an answer, most likely many, everyone does things a little differently!  Have fun!

Bill, you have already received a warm welcome, and here is another one.  Welcome.  You have found a place that will be your guide for learning wonderful things to assist with your care of your bees, and becoming a great beekeeper.  Ask any question your heart desires, all your questions will be answered, questions are the best way to learn, all questions are worthy of great answers, ask away.

Tell us your experiences and stories, we love to hear what others are up to, and it takes us to a part of the world that we don't live in, it is powerful stuff, to hear of other's tales.  Have the most beautiful and wonderfullest of days, Cindi

Welcome to the forum!  The folks here are tops!  Cindi's right we enjoy stories and learn from each other all the time (actually I learn from everyone else).  Good luck and glad hear they made it this far!
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

The Washington Coast stretches from Canada to Oregon so what part are you.  BTW, I'm holding a BBQ and get together for quorum members here in the PNW (which includes BC) on Labor Day Weekend, the voting so far favors Sunday.  You're invited.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the welcome.  I really enjoy the forum.

I'm a bit north of Pacific Beach in Grays Harbor County.

And thanks for the invite, Brian.  I'll talk to my better half (and scheduling dept.) about your get-together.  It would be a kick to meet some other bee keepers.

Bill,

With you being in Pacific Beach have you ever thought of doing a specialty honey with all that Crepe Myrtle just a few miles south of you in Ocean Shores.  I think you would need 3 different out yard to cover the entire spit of sand.
