Congratulations on becoming a new beekeeper. Stay informed by reading as much as possible here on the forum. I learned so much just from reading all the posts here. I am a third year beekeeper, still new myself with 3 hives. It has been a challenge, but I am totally committed to helping the bees.

Good Luck

Josbees.  Welcome to our forum, this is the place where you can spend some wonderful time, you will learn lots, ask questions, your questions will get great answers.  Watching your bees will be the most fun that you can imagine, you will be held captive by them, wanting to know more and more.  Keep telling us your experiences, we love to hear these stories, and have that great and most awesome day, Cindi

Hello and welcome!

You've found a great forum to learn more about beekeeping. You'll get a lot of friendly support here. A few things:

1) Please update your profile to include your location. We aren't likely to remember that you're in CT. Since much of beekeeping is "location specific" we will be able to better answer your questions if we see where you are when you post.

2) One of the features I use frequently is the 'search' function. Very often I find that my question has been discussed before, and I can find an immediate answer.

3) Are you involved with a local beekeeping club? Clubs are good places to find a mentor, and to tap into the "local knowledge", i.e., things such as local suppliers, specific beekeeping practices in your area, etc. There are a number of clubs in your area:

Or maybe across the line into NY:
