Something Different, Bees Not Robbing
« on: May 29, 2013, 11:06:56 pm »
Did an extraction over the weekend and put the wet supers out for the girls to clean up. Checked the supers after two days and they are still wet with only 5 or 6 bees buzzing around them. Looks like there is still a real good nectar flow, never seen wet supers sit that long without causing major confusion in the beeyard. Ended up putting them back on the hives to get cleaned out, rain is forcasted for the rest of the week and I didn't want to get all the equipment wet. Go figure, when you need the bees to rob they won't.

They prefer nectar to honey when a heavy flow is on.  Personally, I'd put them on the hives to clean up and repair.  If you've got a flow on heavy enough that they ignore exposed honey you should have supers on there anyway for a 2nd harvest.
