2012 Spring Honey Prices Rehash
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:24:54 pm »
Just pulled 260lbs yesterday and got into buckets waiting to be bottled. I sold some today for $12 bottled in 2 lb queenlines. The bottles cost $1.00 each w/ lid so I guess I'm at 5.50 a pound. Last year I sold out selling 3# for the same price with in days. I figger everything else has went up, so why should my bees not get a raise?

How many cups of honey equals a pound? 1 or 2?

I'd like to know what that conversion factor is as well. I pack mine up in quarts, pints and 1/2 pint jars.

1.  If you want to know how much the honey in your jar weighs (and you should know...many states require honey to be sold by weight), then weigh it.  A pint of honey does not weigh one pound.

2.  If one reads this thread (and similar ones on this and other forums), one will note that no one ever says, "I made a mistake and priced my honey too high, and now I'm stuck with it because no one will buy it."

A pint of honey weighs close to 20oz.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
