Title: Hello from Central Louisiana
Post by: Tim Bates on April 15, 2012, 09:39:12 pm
Hello, new beekeeper here. Have three hives one nasty hive(bad girls) one recently acquired nuc and one feral waiting to receive a new home. No major plans other than hobby but we'll see where the girls take me.

Yep nasty as in mean mean, harass you for at least 60 yards away. My poor dog he stays by me all the time, but they kick his butt. We had the hive at a friends for about 2 years waiting for our daughter to get older she's now 3 so I brought it home. I thought about giving them a nice dawn bath. Blue jeans don't even faze them they liked to tore my legs up yesterday.
As for what I'm going to do I'm going to give them a chance to settle I can handle hot but if I see their to aggressive to be in the yard I'll re queen.
I transferred my nuc today to a deep with a med on top. Went good except for the smoker I'm using pine straw for fuel but it rained today. Guess I'll have to store some in the shed so I'll have dry fuel.
