Billy and Jerry-dee
« on: February 18, 2011, 12:51:35 am »
are driving around in the pick up drinking beer.  When they try to use the only road out of the woods, they find the Sheriff has the road blocked.

Billy turns to Jerry-dee and says, "Jerry-dee what we gone do?"
Jerry-dee says, "Don't you worry Billy, just do what I'm doing."

He reaches down into the cooler, and pulls out a bottle that had been soaking all day.  Carefully he peels off the label and sticks it to his forehead.  After Billy does the same, they roll down the way the last few hundred yards only to be stopped.

The deputy looks at the both of them and says, "You boys been drinkin?"
Jerry-dee points to the label now pasted to his forehead and says, "NO SIR!  We on the patch!"
"Thinking is like sin, them that doesn't is scairt of it, and them that does gets to liking it so much they can't quit!"  -Josh Billings.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907
