Title: Dave in PA
Post by: Trailrunner9749 on June 27, 2013, 12:26:07 pm
Greetings,

Dave in Northwestern PA here. I am new to beekeeping this year and have been off to a rough start.

I thought I was starting late in may when I ordered my first hive and was excited to get started. Well the company I ordered from never shipped my order and I had to fight with them to get my money back. So to say about a month later I ordered again from Mann Lake and had everything within a week.

Being too late to order bees from anywhere I got a swarm "trap" and some lure and have been fishing.

Welcome to the nut house. Suggest you set up everything so if you do catch a swarm you will be ready. Then feed, feed, feed. Your/their honey will be well above the desired 18% but your goal this year will be to get the hive strong enough to make it thru the winter not for you to get honey.   -Mike

Welcome to the forum, Dave.  Check into a local bee club, they can also be a big help.  Buzz is from Pa.  Good luck to you and your bees.

Welcome, Dave.  Are you anywhere near Erie?
