Title: About A Week Or So Old Colony-May 1, 2009
Post by: JP on May 04, 2009, 11:58:48 am
My fix it guy learned a lesson on this one, that bees can come back and enter through a very small hole.

As y'all know who make sbbs, you better use hardware cloth no bigger than 1/8 of an inch or they will build comb through it.

So if this house looks familiar, it is. Last year I removed a colony from this same spot, April 18, 2008.

There was a lot of water damage and my fix it guy made lots of repairs but when he put everything back he underestimated be's ability to slip through small openings.

Long story short a swarm found the spot and moved in. I removed this colony May 1st, and no I did not charge for this one.

Saw the queen? You just reminded me I have to go give them more feed, they're lined up in a circle around the feeder!

Wow all that work JP and you did not charge.  You are so kind hearted and the people are so lucky to have gotten you to do the work.  Wondering do you have any competition?

Annette, my contractor buddy is the one who lost out on this one, all I had to do was remove the bees. He accessed the hive and had to close it up and beeproof for no charge.

He also wound up doing quite a bit of work for these folks after the first removal, so he felt obliged to do this work for free.

And this hive is going to Bailey. Yes, I do have competition.
