Best room in the house
« on: January 15, 2012, 03:18:22 pm »
At this moment the best room in the house is the basement, where the scent of freshly finished pine from the new hive bodies merges with the scent of comb and propylis from last years supers.  The smells combine the promise of the season to come with the memory of last years bounty.  Every trip down there is an opportunity to stop for a moment and breath it in.

While reviewing last years records I realized that we are just 4 weeks from the beginning of feeding for the spring build up.  The snow drops and daffodils are saying it might be sooner this year.

As much as I love the smell of beeswax and propolis, I would put the boxes outside where the freezing will kill the wax moths... I still have wax moths in my basement from 2002 when I made the mistake of storing them in the basement...
