HBO gives FOX a run for its money Sunday Nights
« on: November 09, 2008, 11:29:42 am »
I must say that HBO has really stepped out of the box with their Sunday Night Line Up, giving FOX Viewers of Cartoon Night a real Brain Twister to deal with - With on demand you can watch most anything of regular TV when you want - although they are getting really heavy with the $.99 shows on Comcast. I'd rather go to Fox and watch it for Free on the web.

But HBO has given us many new shows and blended them with a great existing line up.

We get True Blood a Modern day vampire series set in the deep south. Entorage now in season 4 I think, added to that Little Brit -USA a funny comedy starring two men who do many characters and then The life and Times of Tim a cartoon with dry humor and rediculous situations which reminds me of the great Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I like TV that entertains, although I'm not into comedy movies (I like horrors, thrillers, action/dramas) but tv is a perfect media for short escapes and having choices makes it an interesting Sunday night.

I have my Sunday routine, Dexter (my fav) True Blood, Entourage & then Brothers & Sisters though I dvr B&S as I fall asleep!  Waiting impatiently for Big Love & Tudors to come back.  Loved Rome & Carnival but NOOOO, they had to take them away! :-x They don't have commercials during the shows on SHO & HBO & I use the time between to do dishes & get everyone ready for bed!  J

It is interesting how many shows I watch on the web these days, so I find one night that most shows I watch on HBO - or later on-demand, but whether on-demand on hbo or the streaming feed of Fox - it doesn't really matter which I watch first, as long as I get them all in.

I'm finding myself watching Heroes several times, either I'm getting slow or the writers are into to skunk weed  :-P

But I'm enjoying watching all the content in this ENTERTAINMENT AGE we live in. I surely know that between Audiobooks, recorded and streaming content - I have LOTS of TV and Books a week, more than I have time to enjoy. That is a good thing.

True Blood is a great show. I am not into the unnatural type stuff, but true blood is great.

The only thing I don't like about the show is that the vampires are messy eaters & the clicks when their teeth descend..We all know already that they are drinking blood, don't need to see it gushing..In my imagination (probably from Anne Rice)  they are restrained & tidy eaters! J

Yeah I agree with the teeth thing that is kind of tacky the little metal on metal sound they play every time their teeth pop out. And the whole king lion who just killed something posturing thing seems strange. Seems like if they needed blood so bad they would just eat it  quick and get out. Oh well I still like the show.

Keeping in mind this is a first season, they sure did introduce us to a lot of characters in True-Blood. It is interesting the real and constructed myths on vampires - what they call the "silly ones" are mirror, crosses, lesser known the reaction to pure silver.

I do like it, the only thhing that keeps me from dropping Sho-time is WEEDS which I get find online the next day :) time to give BHO all my money - ugh.
